HIGH VOLTAGE TESTING

The screened High Voltage hall, 40 m x 25 m x 25 m (h) m, is the main test hall of the HV Laboratory. It is equipped with a power frequency generator up to 1 MV (50 Hz / 60 Hz), and a voltage impulses generator up to 2.4 MV (lightning impulses) or 1.6 MV (switching impulses) .

The screened Medium Voltage hall, 29 m x 13 m x 12 m (h) is the secondary test hall. It is divided into five testing cells, to perform power frequency tests up to 150 kV, lightning impulse tests up to 400 kV, ratio and phase measurements on instrument transformers, high sensitivity partial discharges measurements (Faraday cage), and other performance tests on power transformers and prefabricated substations, (short-circuit impedance, losses, temperature rise test, winding resistance measurement, induced overvoltage test, measurement of noise level).

HIGH POWER TESTING

By means of an agreement with HPL (laboratory of Ormazabal group, located in Boroa, Bilbao), combining personnel, expertise and measurement systems of LCOE with the HPL facilities.

HIGH CURRENT IMPULSES TESTS

The high current impulse tests are performed in a separate, specific chamber from the general high voltage tests. This chamber was designed by LCOE as an internal R&D project in order to meet the demand on Aircraft Lightning Direct Effect tests. Since the beginning, the high current laboratory has continued evolving by diversifying its test catalogue. These test catalogue ratings are summarized in the table below.
