LCOE has participated in the 2025 ARWtr Advanced Research Workshop on Transformers, International conference, where the most advanced knowledge in the field of power transformers is shared.
The event was held at the Parador Real de Baiona (Galicia), from 12th to 15th October, including a large number of presentations, several poster sessions and a technical visit to the 400 kV substation, under construction, located in Ponte de Lima (Portugal).
Moreover, Paula Cid, technical manager of LCOE HV Lab, had the opportunity to present a technical paper during the poster sessions in collaboration with TERNA, the Italian transmission system operator (TSO), which included the measurement of losses in large power transformers performed at diverse facilities of Italian manufacturers in the last three years.
The poster highlights the importance of assessing the annual losses incurred by large power transformers in the HV transmission grid, with the aim of verifying compliance with the European Ecodesign Regulation (EU) No. 548/2014 and the specific requirements of the TSO.
In addition, it presents technical details of the instrumentation and methodology used during parallel measurements, emphasizing key points to consider during testing and the importance of applying corrections for the determination of total losses, particularly due to the influence of phase displacement errors introduced by the measuring instruments.
LCOE congratulates the organizers, who brought together industry professionals to share knowledge and explore the latest trends, as well as to all the participants who made these days a great experience.
