The High Voltage Technology Centre celebrate Family Day

The LCOE High Voltage Technology Centre celebrated "Family Day" with a visit so CTAT employees and their families had the opportunity to know the facilities where they carry out their daily activities.
The event, an initiative of the laboratory workers, aimed to make parents, children, siblings and other guests aware of the nature and importance of the activities carried out by their family members and the place where they work, always at the forefront of technological innovation in the field of high voltage.
The day consisted of an explanation of the main facilities of the High Voltage Laboratory. On this occasion, such a special visit, the language used was colloquial and friendly, including anecdotes of the laboratory's history in recent years so that all attendees could understand the type of work carried out at LCOE. The dimensions and characteristics of the generators in the High Voltage room impressed our guests and sparked the curiosity of both adults and children.
In addition, the laboratory technicians prepared some flashovers, simulating the disruptive discharge of an insulator with power-frequency voltage in wet condition and another discharge simulating a lightning strike on a lightning rod. Without a doubt, the electric arcs were the most spectacular part of the event, making the attendees live the experience of high voltage.
To conclude the "Family Day", workers and their families shared the lunch, in a relaxed atmosphere, where they exchanged their impressions about the experience and talked about the work carried out in the laboratory.
The success of the event, which managed to bring the families of the workers closer to their work environment, is an invitation to continue and expand this type of initiative.
